Mike Marshall & Darol Anger

Saturday, April 10, 2027 | 7:30 PM | Tickets $50 – Day of Show $55

Mandolin master Mike Marshall and fiddle visionary Darol Anger are two of the most influential figures in contemporary acoustic string music. Both first rose to prominence as members of the groundbreaking David Grisman Quintet, where they helped shape the New Acoustic Music movement that bridged bluegrass, folk, jazz, and roots traditions. Marshall's collaborators have included Béla Fleck and Stéphane Grappelli.

Anger, a gifted composer and educator as well as one of the great fiddle voices of his generation, has been equally restless in his own right. Together, they have performed as a duo for over 35 years - a partnership built on deep musical trust and the kind of interplay that comes from playing together across a lifetime.

Marshall and Anger first played this stage in May of 2001, and in the years that followed Marshall appeared here frequently - often with Anger, once alongside Edgar Meyer, and once in a remarkable trio with Anger and cellist Matt Haimovitz. Those seasons also featured the likes of Tony Rice, Tim O'Brien, Bryan Sutton, and Tony Trischka — artists who, together with Marshall and Anger, were among the people building New Acoustic Music night in and out - and this small room had a front-row seat. Now you can.

That chance doesn’t come around often anymore. Marshall now lives in Germany, and getting him and Darol together on this side of the Atlantic has become rare. We are so grateful he agreed to make the trip back for the 25th anniversary.
